Greetings from Samy & Ruth – YWAM Bishoftu!!!

What a mighty God we serve! He is with us in all that we do and fulfill the desires of our heart.  Please continue to reading and celebrate for what the Lord has done!

Our family: Becky is doing great in her school and got an excellent report on her term 1. Abigail is 2 years now, very active and the best conversationalist. They are happy about their sheep as she gave birth to twins. We have a big dream to achieve great things for God’s kingdom in different ways. He honors that by keeping an open door for the Gospel.

Ministry:

NEW YWAM BASE DEDICATION

We thank God for the new house for YWAM in Bishoftu. The East Africa Regional Leadership visited us and dedicated the house. We had a great time of prayers and fellowship.                                                              

Volunteers- we are happy to share that 10 volunteers have joined us for the work of the Lord!

SUNDAYSCHOOLS 

Many churches are partnering with us through their prayers understanding YWAM. Presently, we have ongoing Sunday schools in four locations. Every week around 250 children have been taught Bible stories in a creative way. They eagerly learn more about God and to trust in Him.

Bible Study & Bible Distribution  

We study the Bible together and practice in our daily life. We distribute Whole Bible freely to many people who are eager to learn Bible but possibly not effort one.

DTS   

YWAM Bishoftu will be cheerfully running our first DTS - Visionary DTS in Sep, 2014.

Christmas Boxes Full of God’s Love

Last year at this time we shared a wonderful opportunity to bless children in Ethiopia at Christmas with a little box full of love… and you responded!


In this rural area of Ethiopia, it is a daily struggle for parents to provide even basic needs for their children and many children and families have not yet heard of Christ’s love for them.  We have committed our lives to make Christ known in this area God has called them to.

You can touch the kids in this village with the love of Christ by giving them a small gift box for Christmas.  Ethiopians celebrate Christmas on January 7th so there is still time to do this!  Each box costs only $5.50 and includes:

Toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, Vaseline, comb,
bath tissue, spoon, cookie biscuits, candy treat, a boiled egg,
a pen, a notebook, a small toy and a New Testament.

Last year they were able to reach more than 200 kids with the gift boxes.  You can read about the impact those Boxes of Joy had on many children right here!  We have nurtured ongoing relationships with the children in those rural areas where they have started Sunday schools so that the Gospel is still going out. This year they will be giving boxes and sharing the Good News in a different area.

We Thank God for Sunday schools. Ywam D.Z has launched new Sunday schools. We train volunteers, now we have 20-25 children coming every week for each Sunday school center. We also Visit different churches and help them to start Sunday schools. We teach Bible stories through activities and there is song session, playing time, coloring &  snacks .

The National Prayer day

The National Prayer day

First of all, thanks and Glory to God the Almighty who made this possible and for His Glory. It was one of the most powerful prayer days for the nation of Ethiopia. Many Ethiopians have volunteered for this program. Pastors, priests and evangelist were very supportive and promised to do better for the next year. We had invited the popular Christian singer in Ethiopia, Ms. Addisalem and there was a powerful message about prayer. We felt the strong presence of the Holy Spirit. We prayed as mentioned in the Bible that Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God- psalms 68:31. The promise word for this New Year 2006 is Do not be afraid , I my self will help you. Isaiah 41:14. We prayed for the 9 regions in Ethiopia breaking the curses and pleading for the blessings of God! Altogether solid intercessory prayer was offered for the Government and each department. Everyone who attended were deeply blessed. God has provided all our needs for this program and blessed us with many volunteers and new friends.
